Yes when it comes to personal relationships... you got to live for others and sacrifice many thing to get a smile on someone(even a third person's) face. Thats when giving exists. Without any take too :-) I agree with your view of compromise 200% in this.
But when it comes to professional life, that too in this Software industry, Compromise is death. I am saying this after 6yrs. of IT exp. When you start compromising, initially it will be small and you adjust yourself to get satisfied but at the end, when you fight even once, thats what stands.
Does it makes sense??
